A computer software professional with good people facing skills and over 30 years' experience in the design and creation of a wide range of using a diverse range of operating systems and development tools for both interactive and embedded systems. He has just rewritten website www.jimrey.co.uk over 6 days, converting it from Perl CGI, MySQL 3.3 and Apache to PHP-5, MySQL 5, and Apache2 on Fedora-9. MySQL tables are now InnoDB, instead of MyISAM, Stored Procedures used instead of than in-line code, accessed using newer 'mysqli' object-orientated classes. He has recently completed a temporary engagement to improve performance on an ASP web site interacting with two SQL Server 2005 data warehouses. He has also recently completed a contract writing Stored Procedures and Functions in T-SQL to migrate and merge information into the Data Warehouse, comprising several servers using SQL Server 2000 and 2005, from local Access databases and linked tables from the Clinicom database. Writing adhoc SQL queries to extract data from the data warehouse. Used SSID to fetch, gunzip and import CSV files to import them into the database. The 2 years prior to this was spent developing a full commercial site with stock control and automatic price adjustment (www.metsys2.com) using HTML Mason, mod_perl, and MySQL5. Prefers fairly local work that uses and extends existing programming and database skills, but will consider alternative work in an office environment. Permanent position preferred, but contract, temporary, or part-time also considered. Preferred locations: Bolton, Bury, or anywhere easily and reasonably commutable by train eg. Wigan, Central Manchester, Central Blackburn. |
